Professor Li Jiguang, assistant to the president and director of the global economic governance research office, was invited to attend the closing ceremony of the 8th "scientific spirit and academic norms" education and publicity month of Beijing University of technology in 2018. After the closing ceremony, he made a theme report entitled "trade friction between China and the United States at a fork in the road". Professor Li's report mainly consists of two aspects: the interpretation of Sino US trade friction process and the prospect of Sino US trade relations. In the process of Sino US trade friction, from "probing" to "playing cards" and then to "consultation", we can see that there are frictions and contradictions during the Sino US negotiations. However, we must keep the bottom line and win time, so as to achieve success and get warning. Finally, Professor Li explained in detail the three trends of Sino US economic and trade relations in the future, namely, pro economic globalization, anti economic globalization or anti economic globalization. According to the "three advantages" framework, in order to deal with the future Sino US trade friction, we should enhance the international status, improve the external environment, and promote reform through opening up.
After Professor Li finished the report, he also kindly answered the questions raised by the students on the spot. He hoped that the students would stick to the road, strengthen their confidence, and strive for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. The students gave warm applause to thank Professor Li for his wonderful report.
